Meet the
Team

Daniel & Josephine Stark
Owners/Instructors

Daniel and Josephine first met...you guessed it, out dancing! More specifically at the Jump in Gallatin Gateway in early 2023. The two became fast dance friends, and constenstly made it a point to dance with each other often. They started going on dates in late June, and were officially dating by July. Some of their favorite dates were spent attending rodeos and live music, taking short hikes around Bozeman, going to hot springs, and making each other delicious meals. But most of their time spent together was on a dance floor.

Daniel proposed to Josephine in January of 2024, and the couple was married up by that following June. After living almost a year in Livingston, MT, they packed up and moved to Kalispell where they currently reside. They are so excited to be bringing fun and quality dancing to the Flathead Valley! They also have a heart to make dance lessons more accessible to families, and to provide events outside of the bar scene.

Daniel's Dance History:

At a young age, Daniel participated in genres like social/square dancing, and learned a little two step along the way. Though at the time he didn't enjoy dancing all that much. It wasn't until age 15 that he was introduced to traditional country swing, at a 4-H State Congress in Bozeman. From that point on, Daniel strove to learn as much as he could on the subject, imersing himself in YouTube tutorials by Forever Country Dancing, True Country Dancing, and others. It wasn't untill college that he was introduced to classic East Coast Swing while in Kalispell MT, and spent many evenings with his friends doing that.

Upon arriving in Bozeman for more college education, he immediately began diving into the country swing scene there, participating and teaching whenever he could. It was during this time he was introduced to the fundamentals of modern country swing, and he fell in love with the ideas it proposed concerning footwork, timing, and musically. Daniel began applying it as best he could into his personal dance style.

Around March 2022 Daniel and some of his church friends first started Big Sky Country Swing, offering free dancing lessons to people in their circles and running events in their church. While this worked for a while, eventually the idea was put on hold due to people schedules getting busy. Desiring more formal instruction in country dancing as a whole, Daniel joined another local group and began professionally instructing with them for a time. It was in this time period Josephine came into his life, and the rest is history.

Daniel has had the chance to work and be taught by many great country dancers from across the country in the past few years. Some of those would include Country Nomads (@countrynomads_), Red Dirt Dancing (@reddirtdancing), Danya Svir(@dancewithdanya), David Saylors (@david_saylors), Juan Aguirre (@juanna_dance), Connor Stubbs (@cstubbs.dance, @mylitefeet), Country Kickup (@countrykickup), and Country Renegades(@countryrenegades_mt).

Josephine's Dance History:

Josephine began dancing since she was a little girl. From competing nationally in rhythmic gymnastics to attending local swing dances, she was always looking for an opportunity to move to music. Like many young girls, she took lessons in ballet, tap dance, and eventually found years of experience as a rhythmic gymnast in grade school growing up in Seattle and Olympia, WA. In her high school years, she practiced aerial dancing for a few years along side her first swing dancing experiences. Learning East Coast was a weekly joy!

In 2022, she moved to Bozeman, MT in search of new community and opportunities, and a love of the country life, also hoping to find her husband. She immediately began attending weekly dances at the Jump in Gallatin Gateway, absolutely loving to learn country swing! A year into it, she met Daniel, impressed with his skills, he quickly became a favorite to catch a dance with. Then you know how the rest of the story went... As far as dance training continued after joining Daniel, she also had private lessons with Danya Svir, David Saylors, and Country Renegades.
